The Ellington Township Board convened on March 10 to address various township matters, prominently discussing the possibility of a data center moratorium. Supervisor Russ Speirs announced plans to consult with township attorneys to draft a formal resolution concerning restrictions on data centers.
During the meeting, the board also approved a new earned sick time policy without a front-loading option, which passed on a roll call vote, with Laura Boyke-Hawes and Gregg Campbell voting no, and Speirs, Carmell Pattullo, and Suzy Rockwell voting yes. Other routine financial and administrative items were handled, and the board discussed a property at 2750 E. Caro Road, awaiting hazardous materials inspection results from the Tuscola County Land Bank.
Further, officials confirmed the cancellation of the March 17 Planning Commission meeting and set the township's annual meeting for March 28. No immediate action was taken on a proposed contract from the Rawson Memorial Library.
