Ironton, Ohio is set to see a significant economic boost with Vertiv Corporation's announcement of a $49.1 million investment to expand its manufacturing operations. This major expansion, supported by JobsOhio and Ohio Southeast Economic Development (OhioSE), is projected to create up to 730 new jobs in the state by 2029. The project focuses on upgrading machinery and adding production space to address the surging global demand for data center cooling and power infrastructure, essential components for the rapidly growing AI data center industry. Governor Mike DeWine highlighted Ohio's crucial role in the technology sector, emphasizing that Ohioans will be at the forefront of strengthening the AI supply chain. Vertiv, headquartered in Westerville, Ohio, has been an integral part of the Ironton community for 25 years. This latest investment, its largest to date, is expected to establish Vertiv as one of the largest manufacturers in the region and a primary supplier for the global data center market. The expansion is financially backed by a $3 million JobsOhio Grant and a Job Creation Tax Credit approved by the Ohio Tax Credit Authority. Local officials, including Jeremy Clay, COO of the Lawrence Economic Development Corporation (LEDC), credited Southeast Ohio's skilled workforce as a key factor in Vertiv's decision to choose Ironton over other national locations.
