Massena data center protest
Nearly 100 residents rallied in Massena to protest several proposed data center developments. The Massena Town Board recently rejected a proposed six-month moratorium on data centers by a 3-2 vote, despite months of resident lobbying.
Nearly 100 people demonstrated along South Main Street in Massena on Oct. 3, carrying signs opposing data centers and prompting frequent honks from passing motorists. Residents are protesting multiple data center proposals in the town, including an expansion by NCCS involving three buildings ranging from 150,000 to 200,000 square feet each.
The protest followed the Massena Town Board's 3-2 vote against a proposed six-month moratorium on data center development. NCCS's project is among 10 data centers proposed in Massena, with the expansion site covering more than 355 acres.
