Conway residents recently packed City Hall to voice strong opposition and concerns regarding a proposed data center planned for the southwest part of the city. The project, first announced in 2023, has been met with a perceived lack of transparency and details, prompting residents to demand more information.

Among the primary concerns highlighted at the public forum were potential environmental consequences, the use of gas turbines, and the fear of skyrocketing electricity rates. Jeremy Rice, a resident living near the proposed site, expressed discomfort with the facility's proximity, worrying about noise pollution from generators affecting his quality of life.

Community members, including Rice's wife, called for a moratorium on the project, specifically targeting Wards 1 and 3 where the land is located, until the city provides clear answers and addresses their questions. Conway Mayor Bart Casselberry stated that the meeting was part of the process and encouraged public engagement as the city moves forward with discussions.
