Hubbard voters to decide on permanent data center ban
Hubbard residents will vote on whether to permanently ban data center construction within the city. The ballot measure follows a petition drive and comes as a 12-month data center moratorium remains in effect in the city and township.
Hubbard residents will decide on Election Day whether to prohibit construction of data centers within the city. The proposed permanent ban was placed on the ballot after residents submitted more than twice the number of signatures required.
The measure follows a 12-month moratorium already enacted in Hubbard and Hubbard Township. The moratorium and proposed ordinance were prompted by discussions surrounding Project Milo, which Mayor Ben Kyle addressed under a nondisclosure agreement. Opponents have cited potential effects on water resources, electricity costs and noise.
