‘No regulations’: Fort Worth resident questions how the city will regulate data center noise

Fort Worth resident and environmental activist Letitia Wilbourn raised concerns before the Fort Worth City Council regarding the city's ability to regulate noise from data centers. Wilbourn, who lives near a proposed data center site, highlighted an incident where she was advised by the Fort Worth Code Enforcement Supervisor to address noise pollution from a nearby trucking company herself, due to a lack of city regulations.
During a Tuesday city council meeting, Wilbourn played recordings of persistent noise from the trucking company, emphasizing that if the city cannot control existing industrial noise, it is unprepared for potential noise from data centers. She criticized the city's comprehensive plan for not including the word "environmental" and noted the absence of noise regulations in industrial areas like Echo Heights, warning residents about potential unregulated development.
