Taylor City Council approved a development agreement with Big Wat Digital and PowerHouse Data Centers for a 664-acre data center campus on the eastern edge of Taylor. The agreement establishes operating conditions, including a 65-decibel noise limit, a closed-loop cooling system and power generation on site. The developers also pledged approximately $28 million for Taylor schools and local nonprofits.

Dozens of concerned residents rallied outside City Hall before the vote and argued that the project could make the area less livable despite the promised financial benefits. Opponents said the approval would not end their campaign and vowed to continue challenging the development.
