Girard City Council to consider data center moratorium
The Girard City Council is considering a proposed one-year moratorium on data center construction permits. The Girard City Council met on June 22 to deliberate on several proposals, including a potential one-year moratorium on data center construction permits within the community. Councilwoman Lilly Martuccio indicated that this pause would enable the council to collect more comprehensive information regarding the advantages and disadvantages of hosting a data center. She also highlighted that this move would demonstrate solidarity with surrounding communities such as Niles, Ellsworth Township, Lordstown, Cortland, and Hubbard, which have enacted similar policies.
