The Atlanta City Council is considering a resolution to establish a new task force dedicated to regulating data centers within the city. Introduced by council member Kelsea Bond and five colleagues, the resolution follows concerns raised by residents regarding a contentious data center project proposed near the Atlanta West End MARTA station.
The proposed task force would be charged with identifying "best practices for the regulation of data centers and related facilities." If approved, the group is expected to conduct at least six meetings and two public hearings. Following its review, the task force would be required to submit a comprehensive report to the mayor and city council within 90 days, outlining its recommendations for future data center oversight.
