Eagle Rock Partners is exploring the development of Meridian Technology Park, a proposed $8.8 billion data center campus on 475 acres in Christian County, Illinois. The project is anticipated to create over 1,000 construction jobs during a five- to seven-year build-out and approximately 500 permanent jobs upon completion, as discussed by Ken Loeber, a partner at Eagle Rock Partners.

Loeber addressed key concerns raised by residents, including water usage, noise, and electricity demand. He stated that modern data centers use closed-loop, non-evaporative cooling systems, projecting a daily water consumption of about 20,000 gallons, comparable to a single car wash. Noise levels are expected to be around 55 decibels, with county approvals likely to include compliance conditions. Environmental studies, including hydrology, wetlands, cultural resources, and species, have been completed.

Discussions for the project began in 2026, primarily with the Christian County Economic Development Corporation, regarding the zoning process. Eagle Rock Partners has not yet submitted a formal application to Christian County but expects to present its proposal to the Christian County Board in late summer or early fall. If approved, construction is not anticipated to start before 2028. Loeber emphasized transparency and community involvement, stating that the project's future ultimately rests with the people of Christian County.
