This proactive measure is being taken to circumvent potential controversies and public opposition, including protests, that have characterized data center developments in other areas. The council aims to prevent similar disputes from arising in Peapack-Gladstone.
Mayor Mark Corigliano, who previously addressed the New Jersey Highlands Water Protection and Planning Council, suggested that adherence to Highlands conformance regulations might render such a specific ordinance unnecessary. Nevertheless, the council is moving forward with the proposed ban.
