Proposed $1 Billion Data Center Planned for Kingston Area in Bartow County
A $1 billion data center, the Kingston Technology Hub, is proposed for Bartow County, Georgia, by Thor Acquisition. Thor Acquisition, a New York-based company, has submitted plans to the State of Georgia for a substantial data center development, the Kingston Technology Hub, in Bartow County. The proposed project is estimated to represent a $1 billion investment upon full build-out, with a projected completion date of 2030.
The development plan, filed as a Development of Regional Impact (DRI) application with the Georgia Department of Community Affairs, details a 350,000-square-foot data center campus on approximately 559 acres. Officials anticipate the facility will generate around $2 million in annual tax revenue and create about 50 full-time jobs once operational.
Significant infrastructure upgrades are necessary to support the project. The facility is expected to consume roughly 50,000 gallons of water per day, necessitating about three miles of new water lines. Further engineering reviews with the Bartow County Water Authority will finalize design specifications. The data center also has considerable power requirements, estimated at 150 megawatts of electricity, which developers plan to secure through a MEAG Power request-for-proposals process, utilizing existing transmission infrastructure. On-site electrical facilities, including substation infrastructure, are also part of the development plan. The proposal is currently moving through state and local review processes before construction can commence.
