The Warrenton Planning and Zoning Commission unanimously approved the preliminary and final plat for the Warrenton Data Center during its June 4 meeting, marking a significant step forward for the project. The plat divides the site into three lots, with Lot 1 accommodating two 805,000-square-foot data center buildings and an electrical substation. Lot 2 will feature an electrical switchyard, designed and constructed by Ameren, for on-site power distribution.

This approval comes after the Warrenton Board of Aldermen previously granted the site plan and a conditional use permit on January 20. The permit included conditions from the Planning and Zoning Commission, such as requiring additional trees and exploring reduced color temperature and height for outdoor lighting. The Board of Aldermen added further conditions, including a maximum noise limit of 60 dBA and 70 dBC at the property line, a 70% dimming requirement for all outside lighting when not motion-activated, and the relocation of six generators to the middle of the two data center structures instead of the east and west sides.
