The legal appeal for the PW Digital Gateway data center project, filed by QTS, is expected to extend until mid-2027. This appeal follows lower court rulings that voided the project's rezoning, with opposition groups like the Oak Valley Homeowners Association and American Battlefield Trust actively involved.

The ongoing legal battle over the PW Digital Gateway data center project in Prince William County, Virginia, is projected to continue into mid-2027. Data center developer QTS has filed an appeal to the Virginia Supreme Court after the Virginia Court of Appeals and a Circuit Court ruling voided the project's rezoning.

Opposition groups, including the Oak Valley Homeowners Association and the American Battlefield Trust, are also pursuing their legal challenges before the commonwealth's high court. Attorneys for the opposition, like Chap Petersen, estimate a timeline where a writ panel decision could come by October, and a full Supreme Court hearing could occur in May or June 2027.

Prince William County previously withdrew from the lawsuit, as did fellow developer Compass Datacenters. The Digital Gateway project, near Gainesville, aims for over 22 million square feet of data centers across more than 2,100 acres.
