Howell Township's Planning Commission will hold a public hearing Nov. 17 on proposed zoning regulations for data centers and other high-impact land uses. Residents may review the draft ordinance beginning Nov. 2 and submit written comments before the hearing.

The Howell Township Board unanimously voted Oct. 13 to extend the township's data center moratorium for six months beyond its Nov. 20 expiration, unless permanent regulations take effect sooner. Township Trustee Tim Boal said the proposed ordinance still requires revisions, county planning review and additional legal review before the Township Board considers final adoption. Local residents, including members of the STOP THE DATA CENTERS – Livingston County, MI group, have contributed research and input to the process.
