Intrinsic Power Lands a Seed Funding Round
Intrinsic Power, a Sawtelle-based company, has secured seed funding to accelerate its focus on AI's demand for power and electrical infrastructure. The company's platform aims to optimize electricity utilization for data centers, addressing challenges posed by the growing energy needs of AI.
Intrinsic Power, a charging station company based in Sawtelle, California, announced it has raised an undisclosed amount of seed funding to expand its focus on the power demands of artificial intelligence. California-based Kyocera Ventures and Boost VC, along with RPV Global and Drive Catalyst, participated in the financing round.
The company's AI power orchestration platform is designed to connect electrical equipment, monitor conditions, and predict capacity availability, allowing for more flexible, energy-efficient, and resilient electricity usage for customers. Broc TenHouten, co-founder and CEO of Intrinsic Power, stated that the platform helps customers unlock additional grid capacity and improve resiliency for AI infrastructure and data centers, which are rapidly increasing electricity demand.
Rick Johnson, general partner at Kyocera Ventures, highlighted the need for intelligent power orchestration in next-generation data center power systems due to the rapid growth of AI. The article notes a renewed investor interest in electrical infrastructure as the existing grid struggles to meet the power-hungry ambitions of AI data centers, electric vehicle charging, and other growing demands. This has led to backlogs for projects waiting to connect to the grid, averaging five years. The electrical infrastructure sector raised a record $94.6 billion in 2025, with Los Angeles-based companies contributing 10% of that total.
