Dozens protested outside the McMillan Memorial Library, accusing Mayor Matt Zacher of walking out of a previous meeting when questioned about Adams' involvement.
Mayor Zacher addressed the accusations, stating he informed attendees he would leave if the meeting was taken over. He clarified his departure from an earlier chat, explaining he left after another individual began talking over him with their own microphone. Zacher emphasized that the decision to hire Eric Adams as a PR person was solely PNK Group's, and it was not his place as mayor to comment on the company's choices.
The mayor also outlined steps the city is taking to create more separation from PNK Group, including retaining a lawyer from von Breezen to act as an intermediary and requiring a Community Benefits Agreement if the developer moves forward with a development plan.
