One-year moratoriums halt Athens City, County data center talks
Saadia Holding LLC inquired about permits to build a data center on nearly 300 acres in Athens City and County, Ohio. However, one-year moratoriums have been enacted, halting discussions for the project. The proposed site spans Athens and Dover townships, which have different zoning regulations.
Saadia Holding LLC, a New York-based firm, has expressed interest in developing a data center on a nearly 300-acre parcel of land near The Plains, across from Athens High School. The land, currently owned by NML Gallia LLC, is situated between Athens and Dover townships and is subject to differing zoning regulations.
In response to the data center proposal and to allow for further review and planning, Athens City and Athens County have each enacted one-year moratoriums. These moratoriums effectively halt further discussions regarding the data center project for the duration, impacting Saadia Holding LLC's development plans in the region.
