Geronimo Power, a company with a two-decade history in southwestern Minnesota, is seeking public feedback on its proposed Nobles County Powered Data Park project. The company initiated the alternative urban areawide review, a Minnesota environmental review process coordinated by Nobles County, for the planned 400-megawatt data center site, which has the potential to expand to 1,000 megawatts. The site, located approximately six miles northwest of Worthington, Minnesota, would be prepared by Geronimo Power and then sold to a data center operator, with legal commitments ensuring project agreements persist. Blake Nixon, President and CEO of Geronimo Power, expressed surprise at some initial "push back" despite the company's long-standing positive experiences in the region. He emphasized the importance of transparency in building trust with Nobles County residents. The company encourages community members to utilize the open comment period for the environmental review, which closes on April 16th, to provide feedback, voice concerns, and ask questions.
