Santa Rosa County Commissioners have voted to enact a 12-month moratorium on the construction of large artificial intelligence (AI) data centers within the county. The decision was made with a three-to-one vote by the four commissioners present at the meeting.

Santa Rosa County Commissioners held a vote on Monday, June 22, to implement a 12-month moratorium on the development of large artificial intelligence data centers in the county. The vote, taken by four of the five commissioners present at the meeting, passed three to one in favor of the ban.

Navarre commissioner Ray Eddington was noted as having voted against the moratorium.
