Project Thunderbird to Bring Data Center, Power Corridor to Garfield County
Plainsmen Holding LLC announced plans to develop Project Thunderbird, which includes a new data center and power corridor in Garfield County, Oklahoma. The project will feature a 3.3 gigawatt on-site power generation facility and use advanced closed-loop cooling technology with water from the Kaw Lake Pipeline. It aims to support economic growth in Enid and provide backup energy to Vance Air Force Base.
Plainsmen Holding LLC, a partnership of Enid natives Jason Singer, Aaron Singer, Chad Dillingham, and Troy Phillips, announced plans on Tuesday to develop Project Thunderbird. This initiative will bring a new data center and power corridor to Garfield County, Oklahoma, with the goal of fostering long-term economic growth in Enid.
The project is expected to generate millions in new revenue for Enid schools and city services without increasing local taxes or utility bills. Project Thunderbird will span approximately 1,735 acres across four campuses in Enid and include a substantial on-site power generation facility of up to 3.3 gigawatts, to be developed in partnership with a natural gas midstream energy provider.
For cooling, the data center plans to use water from the Kaw Lake Pipeline, employing advanced closed-loop technology as a renewable water source, distinguishing it from traditional systems. Additionally, the project incorporates the Patriot Utility District, an infrastructure initiative designed to provide Vance Air Force Base with back-up energy through hardened power and fiber infrastructure.
