Many speakers urged officials not to "sacrifice residents' lives for data centers."
In contrast to the widespread opposition, at least one individual spoke in favor of the project, arguing that its rejection would represent "ignorance and shortsightedness" that would block long-term prosperity. Brian O'Neill has previously defended the plan, stating it would comply with regulations, not negatively impact the community, and generate substantial economic benefits, including $55.4 million annually in local tax revenue and 15,000 jobs.
