Planning and Zoning begins talks about data centers
The Columbia Planning and Zoning Commission has begun discussions on rules and regulations for data centers. This initial meeting, following the Columbia City Council's definition of data centers in April, is the first of many planned to address the topic.
The Columbia Planning and Zoning Commission recently held its inaugural meeting to discuss potential rules and regulations for data centers within the city. This initial session follows the Columbia City Council's April decision to formally define data centers as facilities used for the storage, management, processing, and transmission of digital data, containing necessary equipment like computers, network devices, and servers. The commission heard suggestions and commenced what is expected to be a series of discussions on the regulatory framework for these facilities.
