More than 15 individuals spoke out, including Caitlin Cooper, whose horse farm is across from land proposed for annexation. She fears the data center could risk her business and animals, stating that a data center and a working horse training facility cannot coexist. The CEO of Shaker Village also warned of long-term consequences for the community.
Councilmember Sudden indicated that the council is considering all aspects of the situation and that one option is to put the decision directly in the hands of voters. Residents also urged Burgin to rejoin Mercer County's Planning and Zoning System, believing it would give the city greater control over future development. However, no final decision was reached at the meeting.
