Allegheny County is conducting public meetings and reviewing a proposed data center campus in Springdale Borough. Residents and the group Save Allegheny Valley Environment oppose the project over potential noise, air pollution and transparency concerns, while the developer awaits a decision on its preliminary land development plan.

Allegheny County Economic Development’s Planning Division is holding public meetings on Allegheny DC Propco LLC’s proposed data center campus in Springdale Borough. The county is overseeing the subdivision and land development review because the borough lacks its own ordinances governing those decisions. Written comments will be accepted through Nov. 30, and the county has 90 days after its Oct. 28 meeting to issue a decision.

The proposal has drawn opposition from local residents and Save Allegheny Valley Environment, whose treasurer Marty Garrigan said the group would prefer denial. The developer, which recently rebranded as Dynamo DC, is seeking preliminary plan approval after receiving conditional-use approval and six variances from Springdale Borough Council last December. A preliminary approval would not authorize construction but would allow the developer to apply for permits from the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection.
