The Cheyenne City Council is set to reconsider the Cox Ranch Annexation, a proposal involving 1,197 acres on Happy Jack Road, for a new data center development. The property is co-owned by Viawest Group and Skybox Data Centers. The annexation discussion was previously paused in April by the city.
The developers indicate that only a portion of the land will be used for the data center, which they say would be partially out of public view. However, the proposal has sparked significant local opposition, with community members planning to attend the upcoming council meeting wearing green to demonstrate their concerns.
This annexation is part of a broader, ongoing debate in Laramie County regarding data center proliferation.
