The City of Kings Mountain held a public forum to hear residents’ views about data center development and the community’s ability to manage the facilities. City officials said constituents felt their concerns had been heard and emphasized the City Council’s responsibility to listen to residents.

The city recently extended its existing data center development moratorium for 12 months. The additional time will allow staff to study and develop standards for future data centers, with construction potentially taking six to seven years once projects proceed.
