The Caddo Parish Commission has rejected a resolution aimed at pausing data center construction in specific areas of the parish. During a work session, commissioners voted 6-4 against the resolution, which would have requested the Planning and Zoning Commission to consider a moratorium.
Attendee Matt Alexander expressed confusion and disappointment, questioning why the commission was so convinced of the benefits of data centers. Another attendee, Mark Black, stated he was not surprised by the outcome, alleging that the commission is influenced by out-of-state capital and corporate interests. Black emphasized that the next step for opponents is to continue raising awareness about the environmental and social costs associated with data centers, highlighting widespread community disapproval of such developments in their neighborhoods.
