The Okee-One data center project, planned for over 200 acres of state-owned land at the former Okeechobee School for Boys in Okeechobee County, Florida, has been scrapped by the governor's office. An Okeechobee County commissioner made the announcement.
Simultaneously, county commissioners voted not to proceed with a broader growth plan that was associated with the controversial data campus. Indian River State College, which was spearheading the Okee-One initiative, will likely be required to return a portion of the grant funding it had received from the state for the project.
