No specific data center application is pending; officials are acting proactively to establish where and under what conditions the facilities could operate.

Warminster Township supervisors unanimously approved a curative amendment resolution on Oct. 1 after determining that the township’s zoning ordinance does not define or provide for data centers. The action gives officials approximately six months to study the land use and amend local regulations while protecting the township from challenges related to excluding a potentially lawful use.

Township solicitor Justin Roberts said officials will use the process to determine where data centers may be appropriate and what zoning requirements should apply. Vice Chair Katherine Frescatore described the effort as a preemptive step, and officials said no developer or pending data center proposal was identified during the meeting.
