The city of Huntsville, Alabama, is seeing significant industrial growth with SPX Cooling Technologies securing a $7.7 million building permit for its new production facility. This permit is part of a larger $118 million project by SPX Enterprises to construct a 460,000-square-foot plant in the Greenbrier area, west of County Line Road. The facility is dedicated to manufacturing large-scale cooling and air-handling equipment essential for data centers.
The project, initially announced in January, is anticipated to generate 350 new jobs within the region. In a show of support, the City of Huntsville and its Industrial Development Authority have approved up to $250,000 in incentives. These incentives are contingent upon SPX meeting specific hiring and wage benchmarks by December 31, 2029, ensuring a tangible benefit to the local economy.
Choate Construction Co. was identified as the recipient of the $7.7 million building permit, tasked with the fit-out of this industrial development project. This permit was among twelve statewide exceeding $1 million, with three located in the Huntsville area, highlighting the region's active construction landscape.
