Residents in Cedar Creek are opposing a proposed 25-acre community park associated with EdgeConneX's data center development in Bastrop County. Neighbors cite traffic, speeding, limited transparency and concerns about the project’s impact, while the company says the park would include public amenities and an emergency shortcut.

EdgeConneX is building a large data center development near Cedar Creek in Bastrop County and has proposed donating about 25 acres to the county for a community park. The plan includes a playground, fishing lake, outdoor classroom, bathrooms and a shortcut for emergency responders, with EdgeConneX offering to cover construction costs. Company representative Todd Workman described the park as part of the developer’s long-term effort to contribute to the community.

At a public meeting organized by county officials and the company, many nearby residents said they opposed the proposal. Residents on 1000 Oaks Drive cited existing traffic and speeding, questioned whether local families would use the park, and said insufficient transparency had undermined their trust. Some residents said they would prefer the land remain green space, and county and company officials are continuing to gather public feedback.
