Governor Announces QTS Data Centers Will Meet Texas Standards
Governor Greg Abbott announced that QTS Data Centers has committed to comply with new statewide standards for data center development in Texas. These standards focus on protecting the electric grid, conserving water, respecting neighborhoods, and preventing cost burdens on Texans. The Governor also directed the PUCT and ERCOT to audit all pending data center interconnection requests.

He established clear guidelines to ensure data centers protect the electric grid, conserve water, respect communities, and cover their own costs without burdening Texas families. QTS Data Centers is highlighted as a model for responsible development by embracing these standards.
Earlier this summer, Governor Abbott directed the Public Utilities Commission of Texas (PUCT) and the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) to implement these standards. He also mandated a pause on all pending data center interconnection requests until each project successfully completes ERCOT's audit process, with non-compliant companies being denied grid access. The PUCT and ERCOT will assess each project's impact on grid reliability, water conservation, community impact, and cost to consumers.
