The City of Ypsilanti will host public meetings on Oct. 7 and Oct. 15 to explain and receive comments on a proposed data center zoning ordinance. The first meeting will be held at Ypsilanti City Hall, while the second will take place online.

The proposed ordinance, discussed at recent Ypsilanti City Council meetings, would divide data centers into three categories and establish energy and water consumption requirements for non-accessory facilities. City Planner Josh Burns presented the proposal at the council's Sept. 15, 2026, meeting, and City Clerk Tracey Boudreau is coordinating accessibility accommodations for the in-person session.
