The City of East Lansing is gathering public feedback on potential zoning and other regulations for future data center projects. City officials said no formal regulatory proposals are currently on the table, although the city has received inquiries about possible developments.

The effort follows the East Lansing City Council's declaration of a moratorium on data center development earlier this year. A community forum is scheduled for Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at the Hannah Community Center, while the city's Commission on the Environment will also discuss data centers. East Lansing is partnering with Michigan State University on a series of related Data Week events focused on data science, artificial intelligence and data centers.
