The Paris City Commission has enacted a temporary moratorium on data center development within city limits, a measure passed on its second and final reading. City Attorney James Smith clarified that the resolution is intended to pause development for approximately a year, allowing the city to evaluate appropriate zoning, locations, development standards, and potential community impacts.

During a public forum, residents expressed significant concerns about data centers. Brandi Valentine of Henry County and Jennifer Darnell, a local nurse and farmer, highlighted environmental issues, stress on livestock and humans, and potential damage to the county water table. Curtis Schoolfield raised concerns about increased truck traffic and road damage. While appreciative of the moratorium, Valentine noted the lack of a defined end date, asserting current zoning laws are insufficient.
