DC Blox data center proposal | WFYI News Now
DC BLOX has scaled back its proposed data center plans on Indianapolis's east side after facing community opposition. The revised proposal, now featuring two buildings and fewer diesel generators, is scheduled for a final vote by the Metropolitan Development Commission on July 15th.
Georgia-based data center developer DC BLOX has scaled back plans for a proposed data center campus on Indianapolis's east side, less than a week before a potential approval vote. Initially, DC BLOX proposed three buildings with up to 56 diesel generators. Following contentious community pushback, the developer is now proposing two buildings, resulting in 25 fewer backup diesel generators and an increased buffer area south of the Penzy Trail.
Lifetime east side resident Mikey Hess expressed frustration that these changes were not made earlier in response to community feedback. The revised project is scheduled for a final vote by the full Metropolitan Development Commission on July 15th.
