Fort Worth Data Center, Amazon Facility Among New DFW Construction Projects
A $430 million data center is planned for Fort Worth, Texas, at AllianceTexas. The Fort Worth City Council recently approved the initiation of a moratorium process for data centers within city limits. This decision follows a directive from Gov. Greg Abbott for state agencies to audit data centers seeking to connect to the power grid.
The Dallas-Fort Worth area is seeing significant construction, including a planned $430 million data center in north Fort Worth at AllianceTexas and an Amazon distribution facility at DFW International Airport near Irving. These projects were detailed in recent filings with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.
Regarding the Fort Worth data center, construction is anticipated to commence before year-end. This development comes after the Fort Worth City Council approved the start of a moratorium process for data centers within city limits on August 11. This local action aligns with a statewide directive from Governor Greg Abbott, who has instructed state agencies to audit all data centers seeking power grid connections.
Separately, Amazon is planning new conveyor systems and platforms for its OTX7 facility at DFW Airport, expected to enhance distribution capabilities and customer delivery times. Other ongoing construction projects mentioned include a warehouse expansion in Denton for a transportation and logistics company and renovations to the Legacy Union building and Anchor Church in McKinney.
