Amazon's plans for a massive new data center campus in Walla Walla County, Washington, have encountered a temporary regulatory obstacle. The Walla Walla County Community Development Department notified Amazon Data Services that its applications for a Site Development Permit and State Environmental Policy Act (SEPA) review were incomplete, halting the process until the tech giant addresses missing environmental and infrastructure details.

The proposed Amazon Attalia Data Center Campus, slated for a 134-acre site along Sundance Road near Burbank, is designed to feature three 220,000-square-foot data center buildings, a security facility, an industrial water facility, storage tanks, and a future utility substation. To resume processing, Amazon must submit a comprehensive Traffic Impact Analysis to determine necessary transportation upgrades.

Community Development Director Melissa Shumake has set a strict deadline of August 24 for Amazon to provide the required documentation. Failure to meet this 60-day window will result in the application being declared null and void, with all submitted fees non-refundable.
