Judge-executive candidates address water infrastructure, data centers and opioid funds during forum
Perry County judge-executive candidates Scott Alexander and Denny Ray Noble discussed the possibility of artificial intelligence data centers in Eastern Kentucky during a campaign forum in Hazard. Noble called for public meetings about potential impacts on water and electricity infrastructure, while Alexander said officials should evaluate a specific proposal before taking action.
At a Perry County judge-executive candidate forum in Hazard, incumbent Scott Alexander and former Judge-Executive Denny Ray Noble addressed the possibility of artificial intelligence data centers locating in the area. Noble said residents need clear information and public meetings before officials consider facilities that could place substantial demands on local water and electrical systems.
Alexander said county leaders should remain open to economic development and consider a data center proposal if one is formally presented. Noble disputed the assertion that no offer exists, saying the local industrial board had been told that property at the industrial park may be needed for a data center. The candidates also discussed water infrastructure, including progress on the Buckhorn water treatment plant.
