The U.S. Army has announced a conditional agreement to establish a "hyperscaled" data center at Dugway Proving Ground in Utah's West Desert. This development is part of the Army's broader strategy to enhance its artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities by collaborating with private industry.
According to a news release, the Army has reached similar conditional agreements with two unnamed companies to develop and operate these commercial hyperscaled data centers on two installations: Fort Bliss, Texas, and Dugway Proving Ground.
Asset management firm BlackRock, described as a "controversial" entity, is reportedly involved in the Dugway project. The Army emphasizes that these data centers are a vital resource for its operations.
