The St. Louis Aldermen on Friday passed a new suite of regulations governing data center development in the city, following several weeks of intense negotiations. The new rules establish specific guidelines for where data centers can be sited within St. Louis.
Key provisions of the legislation include limits on noise and heat emissions from data centers, as well as mandates for a certain percentage of their power to be sourced from renewable energy. This regulatory update comes as a data center project has been proposed for a warehouse located behind the Armory on Prospect Avenue, adjacent to an Ameren Missouri electric substation.
