City Council advances Orchard Hills data center items ahead of Oct. 12 final vote
The Cheyenne City Council advanced annexation and zoning measures for Trammell Crow Company’s proposed 162-acre Orchard Hills data center despite resident opposition and the Planning Commission’s prior unanimous denial. A related future land-use designation decision was postponed, with a final council vote scheduled for Oct. 12.
The Cheyenne City Council advanced the proposed Orchard Hills data center in south Cheyenne, approving annexation and zoning measures on second reading. The 162-acre project, being developed by Trammell Crow Company next to Meta’s existing data center campus, would require agricultural and light industrial zoning changes and a revised future land-use designation.
Residents raised concerns about the project’s proximity to homes and its potential cumulative effects on drainage, transportation and infrastructure. Council members supporting the development cited nearby power infrastructure, potential road and greenway improvements, and the project’s expected economic benefits, while a future-land-use resolution was postponed until Oct. 12. The proposal will receive further committee consideration before the full council’s scheduled final vote.
