Proposed data center draws tremendous blowback at Monday night’s council meeting

Hundreds converged on the Salem Public Library on Monday night for a chaotic city council meeting focused largely on a proposed $5.1 billion Google-funded data center at the Mill Creek Corporate Center. The crowd was so large, the city had to pack people into the library’s basement while hundreds more gathered outside chanting and cheering with signs while livestreaming the meeting.
