Community engagement sought on Aurora data center concerns
Aurora city officials are organizing a town hall meeting to discuss data center developments and community concerns. Councilmember Amy Wiles is seeking public input on the issue, including a potential moratorium on data centers that residents have requested. The meeting aims to share facts and hear concerns before any new policy is proposed.
Aurora, Colorado city officials are hosting a community town hall meeting on June 29 at the Aurora Central Library to address ongoing concerns regarding data center developments in the city. The meeting, organized by City Councilmember Amy Wiles, will include representatives from the city water department, Xcel Energy, and a data center spokesperson.
Councilmember Wiles stated that the purpose of the meeting is to facilitate community engagement, share current processes and restrictions, and gather feedback from residents. She noted that some residents have requested a moratorium on data center construction; however, Wiles prefers to gather community input before formally proposing any such policy. The town hall is not tied to any specific pending data center project.
