Zoning hearing for proposed data center in Conshohocken resumes on October 15th
A zoning hearing for a proposed data center at 900 Conshohocken Road in Conshohocken, Plymouth Township, is scheduled to resume October 15 after a two-month hiatus. Montgomery County has requested party status because it owns property across the road, while a state executive order imposes environmental, energy and transparency requirements on data center developers.
The Plymouth Township zoning hearing board is scheduled to resume October 15 on a proposed data center at 900 Conshohocken Road in Conshohocken. A September hearing was canceled after the township failed to post the agenda as required under Pennsylvania's Sunshine Act, and future evidentiary proceedings will be held at the township building before public comment begins.
Montgomery County has asked to participate as a party because it owns the former Ivy Rock Quarry across Conshohocken Road; the zoning hearing board will decide whether to grant that request. The project is also affected by Governor Josh Shapiro's executive order requiring developers to commit to Responsible Infrastructure Development standards and obtain local approval before environmental permit applications are reviewed. The order removes proposed AI data centers from Pennsylvania's fast-track permitting process and bars nondisclosure agreements for data center projects.
