Compu Dynamics Modular, a provider of high-performance data center infrastructure solutions, has acquired a majority interest in R&D Specialties of Odessa, Texas. The Chantilly, Virginia-based Compu Dynamics cited Texas's abundant energy resources and land availability as key factors driving data center growth in the state, contrasting it with energy limitations in Northern Virginia's "Data Center Alley". The acquisition is already spurring significant expansion for R&D Specialties, an ISO- and UL-certified manufacturer of modular electrical systems and data center modules. Within weeks of the investment, Compu Dynamics began discussions with R&D leadership regarding facility expansion in Odessa. The companies have since broken ground on a new fabrication building, leased an additional five-acre facility, and invested in automation to boost throughput. By the end of the year, R&D's production capacity in Odessa is projected to increase by approximately 600% year-over-year to meet the surging demand in the modular data center market. Compu Dynamics CEO Steve Altizer emphasized that the investment aims to build upon R&D's existing value and talented team, who are enthusiastic about the future opportunities in West Texas.
