Nye County Approves New Data Center Regulations
Nye County officials approved new restrictions governing where and how data centers can be built. The rules prevent a data center in Pahrump Valley under current laws but leave open the possibility of projects in other rural areas of the county.
Nye County officials approved new rules regulating data center development, including restrictions on the types of facilities that may be built and their potential locations. The measures do not impose a countywide ban, meaning data centers could still be proposed in other rural parts of Nye County.
News 3 reporter Will Silverstein visited Pahrump Valley and spoke with Commissioner Ian Bane about the vote and its implications. Under current laws and ordinances, Pahrump Valley is not expected to host a data center, while future proposals elsewhere in the county could lead to additional public debate and opposition.
