Hudspeth County confirms $15 billion proposed data center
Hudspeth County officials confirmed that a proposed $15 billion data center will be built on private property in the county. Server Domes Global is involved in the project, which could begin construction next year, create about 800 construction jobs, and eventually provide 200 to 300 permanent jobs.
Hudspeth County Judge Joanna E. Mackenzie confirmed in a letter that a new data center is planned for Hudspeth County, near El Paso. Server Domes Global is among the organizations involved in the approximately $15 billion project, which would be developed on private property. Mackenzie said she visited the site and that project representatives apologized for limited communication with county officials.
Project representatives said the facility would use water during initial startup but would not require additional water afterward. They also said the center would generate its own electricity rather than rely on local power. County officials are still working on road-use agreements, while the project's taxable value and tax revenue have not been determined. Construction could begin as early as next year, last four to five years and create about 800 construction jobs, with 200 to 300 permanent positions expected afterward.
