CyrusOne hosted the San Antonio Report and other invited guests at its SAT 5 facility in the Texas Research Park, marking the company’s first media tour of the site. Visitors could view operational areas, power and cooling systems, generators and monitoring rooms, but were barred from entering data halls or taking interior photographs because of client confidentiality and security requirements. CyrusOne representatives said the tour was intended to counter misinformation and show how the company manages noise, energy efficiency and infrastructure.

The San Antonio campus includes two operating facilities, two under construction and three more planned nearby. CyrusOne also operates a facility under construction in Medina County next to a Microsoft data center, while Vantage has a separate campus in the area and has filed plans for a new 96-megawatt facility. The tours come amid growing backlash and litigation over data centers’ use of electricity and water, as well as calls by governments for audits, investigations and development moratoriums.
